Visit a Patient

The presence of family and friends enhances and supports patients in their recovery. We encourage visitors but ask that NOT more than two per patient at anytime. If the times are difficult for you, please tell the nurse in charge of the ward who will arrange alternative times

Please be sensitive to the needs and wishes of room-mates if sharing a room. Lounges are available on most floors for family and friends to visit if the patient's room-mate is sleeping or having a procedure done.

Visitor Self-Screening
Visitors who are not feeling well should not visit the Hospital. You may risk exposing our patients to infection from a cough or sneeze.

Visitors to the Indian Spinal Injuries Centre (ISIC)
The ISIC is open to visitors from 2.50pm to 3.00pm every day although partners may stay beyond that time by arrangement with the midwife in charge of the ward. We would normally limit the number of visitors to two people but this may be exceeded if you discuss this with the nurse in charge of the ward.

Security arrangements for the ISIC
We are continuously reviewing our safety procedures to make sure that the ISIC is as secure as possible. Close Circuit Televison System (CCTV's) has just been started in this hospital; details and the procedures will be explained to you by the ward staff.

Presents for patients
Patients often like to receive gifts while in hospital, but please bear in mind because of health and safety reasons, we cannot allow cooked food to be stored or reheated. You are welcome, however, to bring gifts, for example, fruits, sweets, flowers, books and magazines. The nurse in charge will tell you if there is anything the patient should not have. Please check before bringing flowers as some wards and intensive care areas do not allow them because procedures for controlling infections in these areas are very strict.

Smoking
This hospital has a smoke free environment, no smoking is allowed on ISIC premises or its grounds. All wards and public areas within the hospitals are non-smoking. We hope you will respect this policy by not smoking in the hospital. Please discuss any concerns you may have about this with the ward staff.
