Nursing Spinal Cord Injury patients at Indian Spinal Injuries Center is based on values of Caring and aims to help individual to attain independence is self care. It necessitates development of compassion and understanding of human behaviour..

At ISIC we creating compassionate nursing skills on grounds of spinal cord injury care. Caring by rehabilitation professionals results in a patient’s well being , self care, autonomy, independence and perceived by spinal cord injury patients as central to recovery and a positive attitude toward disability.

Developing Measures in the field of SCI Nursing at ISIC.
· Recruiting trained nurses with relevant experience and an effective simulated interview process.
· Training on SCI, other technical and special skills. E.g. communication, IPR, EQ and stress coping skills.
· Continuing Nursing Education programmes.
· Health education programmes.
· Health education classes by the nursing staff to the patients and their family members
· Creating role models through performance appraisals and creating growth in their performance level.
· Retaining dedicated and knowledgeable nurses with profession efficiency in the profession by improving at the emoluments, workload and working conditions and also to support them to balance their work and family life.
· Encouraging nursing personnels to participate in exchange trips for specialies courses outside their institute to other hospitals in the country and abroad.
· Comprehensive training arrangements for CGFNS,NCLEX and IELTS to help Indian Nurses realize their dreams and their potential as nursing professions.

Future Development in SCI Nursing at ISIC

· Exchanging Nursing Personnels between speciality hospitals in the country and abroad for short term certificate courses to gain experience in the specific fields either side.
· Encouraging Nursing personnel to go for exchange programme with collaborating hospitals in the country and abroad.
· Creating few short duration specialized certificate courses in Spinal Cord Injury fields
· Nursing Education workshop on Spinal Cord Injury Nursing at ISIC.
· Post-Graduation course in disability management.

The nursing science has to keep pace with development with the development in other health profession for optimum coordination and integration to health services.
