Spinal Injuries Centre dedicated
The visiting Italian Minister for Foreign Affairs, Mr.Lamberto Dini, today formally dedicated the Indian Spinal Injuries Centre an Indo-Italian cooperation project to the nation.
The Delhi Health and Urban Development Minister, A.K.Walia and Major HPS Ahluwalia, chairman of ISIC were present on the occasion.
The Indian Spinal Injuries Centre is a state-of-the-art, super-specialty hospital specially
conceived to provide comprehensive management to people with spinal injuries. Set up under an MoU between the Indian and Italian governments, funds for sophisticated and state-of-the-art medical and engineering equipment and for training of professionals have been provided by the latter.
According to Major Ahluwalia, chairman ISIC, this was the only centre which provided the same treatment both to the richest and the poorest. "Though there are facilities for other disabilities like the blind and the hearing handicapped, there are none for the spinally affected people" he added

International meet on Spinal Injuries
Indian spinal Injuries Centre, South Asia's advanced super specialty
hospital for spine and spine related ailments has organised an
international spine and sinal injuroes conference, ISSICON from October
27-29.
The conference was inaugurated by Home Minister L K Advani and presided by
the Minister of State for Social Justice & Empowerment , Ms Maneka
Gandhi. Mr Advani also unveiled the largest painting of Mt. Everest in the
world at ISIC. |

New Spinal Injury Centre
The visiting Italian Minister for Foreign Affairs Lamberto Dini dedicated the Indian Spinal Injuries Centre an Indo-Italian cooperation project to the nation on sunday. Delhi Health Minister A.K.Walia and Major HPS Ahluwalia, chairman of ISIC were present on the occasion. Ahluwalia said, ISIC is the only centre which provided the similar treatment both to the rich and the poor. Of the 2,438 admitted so far over 1,200 were treated free.

Studies have shown that after an acute MYOCARDIAL infarction (AMI) 60 percent of mortality is within first four hours of the event. Thus, the symptoms to accurate diagnosis and initiation of therapy is the most important single factor. For initiating
pre-hospital care and thrombolysis, time is crucial, as the best results are obtained when cardiac muscle is salvaged ,within the golden
hour.
The symptoms of heart attack could be chest discomfort, chest pain of feeling of tightness or squeezing behind the chest bone sometimes, the symptoms may be non-specific, there may be acute shortness of breath breathlessness ,or uneasiness. It is therefore essential that patient get himself evaluated for his/her symptoms at the
earliest.
In response to the desire and anxiety expressed by the community of the Vasant Kunj and its adjacent areas i.e. Munirika Vihar, Vasant Vihar, Palam Gurgaorr and DLF, as the people here were not able to get immediate medical care in case of
Cardiac Emergencies, Escorts Heart Institute And Research centre is establishing a round the clock cardiac care facility at Indian Spinal Injuries Centre (ISIC), Vasant Kunj New Delhi. The aim shall be to provide immediate treatment to the victims of heart attacks within the Golden Hour to reduce the mortality and morbidity. The standards of care would be as per the high standards of excellence achieved at EHIRC
Indian Spinal Injuries Centre, a super-specialty hospital specialized in the management of spinal injuries, spine and related ailments has joint hands with the Escorts Heart Institute And Research Centre to setup this cardiac facility in its premises.
Indian Spinal Injuries Centre has come up as an Indo-Italian Co-operation Programme under an MOU signed between the two Governments, the Government of Italy has provided funds for state-of-the-art
equipments and training of manpower The Centre also has research collaboration with the American Government
The key feature of the new cardiac facility at ISIC include 24 hours heart Command Centre a Super CCU with 8 beds, Heart Station
for ECG , 2D Echocardiography, Colour Doppler, I loiter, TMT and
Telecardiology. A Mobile Coronary Care Unit (MCCU) on call all the time Cardiac OPD And Cardiac Rehabilitation Programme
In the New Millennium EHIRC is launching a Tele-echocardiology facility with
broad-band a the satellite Heart Centre at ISIC. The first ever live demonstration shall be held on
1st August 2000 at 4:00 pm. This state-of-the-art Technology shall establish an immediate
tele-link between two sites. The Cardiologists at Vasant Kunj shall perform 2D colour Doppler Echocardiography examination of the patient, and transmit the live echocardiogram pictures directly to EHIRC to discuss with the experts at this end. The exchange of opinion between two teams will ensure better patient care in terms of evaluation of disease and initiation of treatment.
